Here in California, today is Cesar Chavez Day and we just want to remind you all about this important Mexican-American. He and Dolores Huerta helped form the
United Farm Worker to help farm workers get better working conditions and wages. He used non-violent tactics that he learned from Gandhi and St. Francis to protest the social injustices he saw. When he died in 1993, he was working on limiting the use of pesticides on grapes. I remember growing up then and we boycotted grapes. Today there was a march in San Diego to get better pay for farm workers and about 500 people showed up!
